2027: Why Adeoye Is Frontline Alternative To Lead Lagos – APM Youth Leader

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Youth Leader in Lagos State has described the party’s governorship candidate, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, popularly known as Laja Adeoye, as the “frontline alternative” to lead Lagos in the 2027 governorship election.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Youth Leader in Lagos State has described the party’s governorship candidate, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, popularly known as Laja Adeoye, as the “frontline alternative” to lead Lagos in the 2027 governorship election.

The youth leader said Adeoye’s early entry into the race, experience in the private sector and the policy proposals contained in his “Atunto Eko 1.0” agenda positioned him as a credible alternative to the ruling political structure in the state.

According to him, Lagos has recorded significant growth but continues to face challenges including traffic congestion, housing shortages, flooding, infrastructure deficits, high energy costs and pressure on the cost of living.

He said Adeoye’s campaign was focused on addressing these everyday challenges rather than simply maintaining the existing political order.

Adeoye, born on May 2, 1981, is from Lagos and has roots in communities across Lagos East and West. He holds a diploma in computer science, a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Lagos and a master’s degree in property development and management from Leadcity University.

As Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fendini Group, Adeoye has been involved in property development and infrastructure projects, including Rayfield Gardens City Estate, which comprises residential, commercial and social facilities.

The APM youth leader said the candidate’s experience in property development and project management gave him practical exposure to some of the challenges confronting Lagos, particularly housing, infrastructure and urban development.

He also pointed to the Laja Adeoye Foundation, which he said had provided a platform for supporting people and communities.

On Adeoye’s political journey, the youth leader said the candidate entered mainstream Lagos politics through the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2009, later served as pioneer publicity secretary of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Lagos and subsequently became the party’s national publicity secretary.

He returned to the PDP in 2021 and contested the Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II seat in the 2023 House of Representatives election.

Adeoye left the PDP in May 2026 and subsequently joined the APM, where he secured the governorship ticket.

The party’s governorship primary, held in Yaba on July 23, was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with delegates from the 20 local government areas endorsing Adeoye.

Kemi Adenuga was also presented as his running mate after replacing Coker Grace, who had earlier been listed as the placeholder deputy governorship candidate.

The youth leader said Adeoye’s campaign had already commenced issue-based engagements across the state under the “Atunto Eko 1.0” agenda, which he described as a blueprint for re-engineering Lagos for inclusive prosperity.

He said the programme focuses on affordable healthcare and housing, quality education, employment generation, infrastructure development, security, transportation and improved economic opportunities for young people, artisans and traders.

On employment, Adeoye has proposed industrial and skills clusters projected to create about 100,000 direct jobs within two years, with a broader target of 1.5 million jobs over four years through technology hubs, agro-processing centres and skills academies.

The plan also includes an “Eko Skill Code” initiative aimed at training young people in areas such as solar installation, plumbing, coding and creative industries.

In the power sector, Adeoye has proposed generating at least 2,000 megawatts through independent power projects across the five IBILE divisions of Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.

His housing proposal includes affordable housing developments in Epe, Badagry and Ikorodu, with public-private partnerships targeting about 100,000 homes and single-digit mortgage financing.

The APM candidate has also proposed expanded flood control measures, improved waste management, expansion of bus rapid transit services, integrated water transportation and digital traffic management.

In healthcare, he has pledged to build, rehabilitate and equip more than 300 primary healthcare centres within 18 months if elected.

On governance, Adeoye has proposed replacing the Governor’s Advisory Council with a broader body involving traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, women, business leaders and representatives of the five IBILE divisions.

He has also advocated the conversion of the 37 local council development areas into full-fledged local governments, which would increase the number of local governments in Lagos from 20 to 57, subject to the necessary legal and constitutional processes.

The youth leader said Adeoye’s vision was for a Lagos that would preserve its cultural heritage while remaining open and inclusive to residents from different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

He said the 2027 election would provide Lagos voters with an opportunity to assess competing visions for the state and decide whether to continue with the existing political structure or support an alternative.

“Lagos does not need another slogan about being a world-class city. It needs shorter commutes, affordable housing, reliable power, functional healthcare and a government that listens to its people,” he said.

He added that Adeoye’s early campaign structure, private-sector experience and detailed policy proposals made him, in the APM’s view, one of the strongest alternatives in the 2027 Lagos governorship race.
